Admission Procedure & Policies

Introduction

The Institute of Advanced Research (IAR) is an innovative modern university, which offers professionally focused undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programs. IAR was established in 2006 with the support of then President of India Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, who inaugurated the Institute, and the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, who was then the Chief Minister of Gujarat. The University is financially supported by the Puri Foundation for Education in India, established by Professor Nathu Ram Puri, who is a leading industrialist in the UK with manufacturing and other businesses world-wide.

  • The University is a not-for-profit institution and its sole purpose is to promote world-leading education, research and innovation for young people nationally and internationally.
  • The basic objective of the IAR admission policy is to identify meritorious candidates for admission to various programs in General/OBC/ST/SC/PWD & EWS categories.
  • The admissions will be on merit basis. 60% marks in the latest qualifying examination is set as Merit for the admission to all undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applicants with
  • less than 60% overall may be considered on a case by case basis through an interview process.

  • University offers all Government Scholarship schemes and its own Scholarship scheme to the meritorious students. University also offers financial support to the applicants from the weaker section of the society as per predefined policy.

Procedure for Admission

  1. Applicants need to submit admission application form with applicable fee for the respective program (separate application forms for separate programs if applying for more than one program) as per the admission schedule declared on the university website from time to time.

  2. University has set the criteria for merit and will offer admission to all applicants having 60% or more marks in the qualifying examination for UG and PG programs.

  3. Applicants having marks less than 60%, may be considered for admission following an interview.

  4. Applicants eligible for admission will be given admission only after verification of eligibility and the payment of the applicable registration fee. The students will have to pay semester fee before the commencement of the semester.

  5. Applicants who fail to provide confirmation of acceptance of admission by the specified last date will be considered as Withdrawn and the seat will be offered to the other eligible candidate.

  6. If a student fails to prove academic eligibility after the confirmation to admission, his/her admission will be treated as Cancelled (due to non eligibility) and the seat will be offered to another eligible candidate. In such cases, registration fees will not be refunded.

  7. Admissions to B.Tech, M.Tech and MBA programs are done through the centralized online admissions process conducted by the ACPC (Admission Committee for Professional Courses). The prospective students need to check the website <https://www.jacpcldce.ac.in> for details on eligibility, admissions procedure and dates etc.

Scholarships:

  1. Students from SEBC (OBC), SC, ST and Free ship Card Holder category can avail the scholarship facility provided by the State Government under Digital Gujarat Portal. Institute of Advanced Research helps the students to apply in respective category under Digital Gujarat Scholarship schemes.

  2. Students from Minority Category can avail the facility of scholarship provided by the minority commission of Govt. of India. Institute of Advanced Research will publish the Circular received from the Central / State Government and helps the students to apply in National Portal Scholarship scheme from time to time.

  3. Institute of Advanced Research offers Merit Scholarships and provides Financial Assistance to students.

Note:

  • Students need to pay application fee (applicable as per the category) at the time of submission of application form.

  • One time University Registration fee (applicable as per the category) (Refundable on the condition that student successfully completes the program) at the time of confirmation of admission.

  • *Fees are reviewed on annual basis considering input costs and other related expenses. The fee may increase by about 8-10 % per year.

  • ** B.Tech, M.Tech and MBA fee are determined by FRC (Fee Regulatory Committee, Govt of Gujarat). Application and Registration fee are not applicable to these programs.

  • Hostel and Mess charges are separate and need to be paid as per the type of hostel facility applied/to be availed.

3. Eligibility Rules for admission to program:

3 A. Undergraduate Programs – B.Sc./BBA

The student seeking admissions must have passed any of the following

  • 10+2 level examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Education, including Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.

  • Intermediate Science or Two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.

  • Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system.

  • High School Certificate Examination of Cambridge University.

  • International Baccalaureate (IB)

  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with minimum five subjects.

Note:

  1. For BSc (Hons) Physics / BSc (Hons) Chemistry / BSc Physical Sciences programs, the candidate should have passed 12th standard examination or equivalent from science stream or with minimum any 2 of the following subjects – Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry

  2. For BSc (Hons) Biotechnology / BSc (Hons) Microbiology / BSc Life Sciences programs, the candidate should have passed 12th standard examination or equivalent from science stream with minimum any 2 of the following subjects – Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

  3. Candidates seeking admission in BBA are required to have passed 12th standard examination or equivalent from science or commerce or arts discipline.

  4. Candidate must have passed any of the qualifying examinations with English as one of the subjects.

3 B. Undergraduate Graduate Programs – B.Tech.

  1. Admission Eligibility for Degree Engineering Courses: The aspiring candidates should have passed Std. 12 (Science Stream) in three subjects viz. two compulsory subjects i.e. Physics and Mathematics and any one of optional subjects i.e. (Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational Subjects prescribed by respective boards) from single board and should have appeared in GUJCET or similar qualifying exams as per the guidelines mention on website for Admissions Committee for Professional Courses, Govt. of Gujarat to be eligible for the admission.

  2. For admission in the first year of Degree Engineering after Std. 12 (Science Stream) on State quota seats of Self Finance Engineering Institutes and seats of management quota of Self Finance Engineering Institutes will be carried out as per admissions rules set by ACPC, Government of Gujarat. 3 C. Postgraduate Programs – M.Sc.

The candidate seeking admission:

  1. Must have Bachelor’s Degree in respective discipline under 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 pattern of education from any recognized University from relevant disciplines.

  2. Final year students awaiting final year results are encouraged to apply. Final admission will be subject to successful passing of the Bachelor’s degree.

3 D. Post Graduate Programs (PG) M.Tech* and MBA

  1. Students seeking admission to Master of Technology (MTech) program need to possess Bachelor degree from UGC recognized university and passed entrance exam as per the guidelines provided on website for Admissions Committee for Professional Courses, Govt. of Gujarat to be eligible for the admission.

  2. University department follows admission procedure as mentioned on website: https://www.jacpcldce.ac.in/me.asp

  3. Students seeking admission to Master of Business Administration (MBA) program need to possess Bachelor degree from UGC recognized university and passed entrance exam as per the guidelines provided on website for Admissions Committee for Professional Courses, Govt. of Gujarat to be eligible for the admission.

4) Ph.D. programs

Please refer to the policy document released by Research and Innovation cell which available on the university website www.iar.ac.in and updated from time to time.

5) Hostel and Mess Fees

University provides limited hostel facility on first cum first serve basis. We have separate hostel facility for boys and girls. The students need to apply for hostel facility while confirming his/her admission. The applicable hostel fee including mess charges for one semester is payable at the time of admission. The university hostels are allotted as per rules and regulations of university and university reserves the right of admission.

In case of campus hostel facility is full university will recommend / allot hostel accommodation with outside service providers having MOU with university. The charges for the same will have to be paid in advance at university office. The charges for outside hostel facility may vary as per the choice of facility opted for.

University provides canteen and cafeteria facility within campus at separate cost to all non-hosteller students also. The mess facility is not mandatory for students allotted with hostel facility with outside service provider.

ADMISSION CANCELLATION POLICY

Procedure for the Admission Cancellation:

  1. Student will have to submit an application for cancellation of admission duly signed by the student and parent in Admission Cell office.

  2. Student can also email the signed scan copy of application for cancellation of admission to email address: admissions@iar.ac.in with supporting scanned documents.

  3. Student needs to submit original fee receipt, admission letter (in case of admission is via ACPC for B.Tech., M.B.A. admission) with the application for cancellation of admission.

Refund of fees/migration certificate/transfer certificate:

  1. An application fees and registration fees is one-time fees and it is non-refundable. However, the Registration fee is refundable on successful completion of the program.

  2. If the student applies for cancellation of admission within one month of commencement of Semester, 70% of semester fees will be refunded.

  3. If the student applies for cancellation of admission after one month of commencement of Semester, no semester fees will be refunded.

  4. In case student applies for admission cancellation after commencement of semester, original migration certificate/transfer certificate will be retained by University. The University will issue migration certificate (only after the no due procedure is completed by student) mentioning admission cancelled program is incomplete.

  5. Hostel fees will not be refunded in any case. However, Hostel Deposit is refundable after completion of one year stay at hostel after no-dues procedure.

  6. Application for admission cancellation after the completion of odd semester (i.e. Semester I, III and V) will only be processed after payment of full year fees as applicable.

  7. For professional courses like B.Tech, M.Tech and M.B.A., procedure for refund of fees is as per rules and regulations prescribed by ACPC from time to time.

*Note: University reserves the right to cancel the admission in case the candidate fails to produce original documents related to eligibility of the admission to particular program at the time of admission and in case the information provided by a candidate is found to be false or irrelevant/non-compliant to the requirements of admission.
