Program Overview

B.Tech Biotechnology

B.Tech biotechnology is started at IAR to integrate the knowledge of biology with engineering application to create professionals that cater the new challenges in biological engineering. The curriculum of this 8 semester program has been made by integrating the courses of biological sciences and engineering together with relevant laboratory programs and a compulsory research project/Interneship in the last semester.

IAR is already a pioneered in the field of Biotechnology with various world class projects going on in the campus. Due to this university accommodates various labs such as Genetic Engineering Lab, Animal biotechnology lab, Plant biotechnology lab and Cell culture lab. These labs and ongoing research projects helps our students to get exposure to the real world problem. In addition to this the university has identified significant areas specific to biotechnology industries and integrate the same in our curriculum.

The scope of B.Tech. Biotechnology is very wide and secure. A Biotech engineer can work as researcher, bioprocess engineer, food engineer and biotechnology entrepreneur. One of the advantages of doing B.Tech is that the student can directly take admission in Ph.D program at various reputed Indian universities. In addition to this, a biotechnology engineer can apply for government jobs that are advertised by various government agencies such as CSIR, FCI, ICMR etc. throughout the year.
